Sperry, Zoda & Kane has been practicing law in the field of patents, trademarks and copyrights in the greater Trenton, New Jersey area since 1931. The firm was established in downtown Trenton in 1931 and over the years has represented many local companies, particularly small companies, and individuals who decide to seek protection for their own various products, concept and items.
The original firm was founded by Albert Sperry in 1931. Mr. Sperry practiced patent law for 47 years. He was joined by Frederick A. Zoda in 1964. In 1974, they were joined by John J. Kane. Albert Sperry was a member of the Bar of New York and Frederick A. Zoda was a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia, and John J. Kane is a member of the Bar of New Jersey. All three were members of the Federal District Court of the District of New Jersey. Most importantly, all three attorneys are registered to practice patent law, including handling matters before the United States Patent and Trademark office. Albert Sperry retired from practice in 1978 and Frederick A. Zoda is currently practicing on a limited basis as Counsel to the Firm. John J. Kane is currently the most active member of the firm.

John J. Kane is a 1970 graduate of Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics graduating in 1970. Mr. Kane is a member of the National Physics Honor Society “Sigma Pi Sigma”, and is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the American Patent Law Bar Association. Mr. Kane has been practicing patent law since 1975 at the same location in suburban Trenton, New Jersey. The office is located at Suite D – One Highgate Drive, Trenton, New Jersey which is just off of North Olden Avenue in Ewing Township, New Jersey near the College of New Jersey.
Presently the firm represents numerous companies and individuals throughout the United States. However, most of the clients are primarily based within the New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania geographic area. Mr. Kane’s background in physics provides an excellent broadly-based technological background for supporting patent law services performed in a variety of disciplines, especially those inventions involving electrical or mechanical technology.
